GroupM Raids Omnicom's Boserup, Names Him Global Trading Chief

In a major raid of rival Omnicom Media Group, WPP’s GroupM has named Johan Boserup global CEO of GroupM Trading.

Noting that the “media trading landscape is facing extreme change and the traditional models are under more pressure than ever,” GroupM said Boserup will leverage the combined scale of GroupM’s four media services networks -- Mindshare, MEC, Mediacom and Maxus -- to “create opportunities.”

GroupM did not say how -- if at all -- Boserup would be involved with GroupM’s other divisions, including agency trading desk Xaxis, but the holding company did say he would be responsible for driving “new trading models.” That presumably means he will be involved in at least some programmatic trading in the rapidly expanding real-time bidding marketplace.

Boserup, who will be based in London, had been worldwide chief trading and accountability officer at Omnicom Media Group, and has a background in digital media.

He will report to Juergen Blomenkamp, a member of GroupM’s global executive committee, and Dominic Proctor, Global President.
