FTC To Hold Workshop About Data Collection

The Federal Trade Commission said Monday that it will convene a privacy workshop to explore the risks and benefits of online data collection. The agency will examine a host of topics -- including the benefits and potential privacy challenges posed by data collection, whether consumers are aware of data collection, and whether people have "meaningful options should they wish to avoid products or services that use comprehensive data collection."

The workshop will take place in Washington, D.C. on Dec.6.
