Gap Reorganizes Brand Management

  • October 17, 2012

In a move it says reflects its global expansion, Gap has reorganized to better support its brands, scrapping geographical distinctions in favor of four new units: Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic and the new innovation, digital strategy and new brands division. Art Peck, the current president of Gap North America,  will head the new group, which includes Athleta and Piperlime.

Steve Sunnucks, currently  president of Gap International, becomes the new global president. Jack Calhoun, president of Banana Republic North America, moves to that brand’s global presidency. (The San Francisco based company had recently announced that it was hiring H&M vet Stefan Larsson as global head of Old Navy.)

Gap’s five brands and 3,200 stores are located in 40 countries, compared with just eight countries in 2006.
