Salvation Army Collects $700,000 Online For Sandy Victims; Seeks Mobile Gifts

With millions still without power and wading through wreckage, the Salvation Army says it has already raised $700,000 online, and is actively focusing on feeding and sheltering storm victims in New York and New Jersey, as well snowbound residents of West Virginia. (It says it has also just begun support efforts for worn-out first responders in Freehold, N.J.) The charitable group is also encouraging people to give via mobile phone, by testing the word STORM to 80888.
