7UP Sued Over Antioxidant Varieties

The Center for Science in the Public Interest, on behalf of a California man, is suing 7UP maker Dr Pepper Snapple Group.

The suit charges that 7Up Cherry Antioxidant, Mixed Berry Antioxidant and Pomegranate Antioxidant varities are misleading consumers by implying that the antioxidants come from fruit, when instead they are fortified with a small amount of Vitamin E.

The suit, filed in U.S. District Court in California, also charges that the products are illegal, as FDA regulations forbid fortifying "nutritionally worthless" beverages and foods.
