Online Worm Causes Search Engines to Crawl

A new variant of the MyDoom worm stormed the Web Monday morning, flooding in-boxes with hundreds of messages, and slowing traffic on Google, Yahoo!, AltaVista, and Lycos. The new version, MyDoom.m or MyDoom.o, slowed these search engines "to a crawl" according to a CNET report, because the virus automatically and relentlessly performs searches on those sites once it infects a PC.
