Digital music sales are expected to double compared to last year, reaching more than $270 million in 2004 and rocketing to $1.7 billion by 2009, according to a forecast issued by JupiterResearch at a conference. But digital sales are not expected to replace CDs. This comes as welcome news to an industry faced with steeply declining sales - since 1999. In addition to the individual MP3 sales, MP3 players will increase 50 percent in 2004, totalling 5 million and will continue that trend for the next several years.
