GPS Insights On Holiday Shoppers

There’s no shortage on ways to measure shopping behavior, but here’s a twist: A company called Locately harnesses GPS data and in-store mobile surveys to capture the true behavior of shoppers, via their smartphones.

This Thanksgiving, it reports, the average shopper made 1.5 shopping trips to get ready for the big meal, spending just under $100 on food and beverage, household products, and beauty. And while supermarkets were most visited, at 54%, mass merchandisers got 37%, and 9% visited warehouse clubs.
