NY Times: Indian TV Booming, Mothers-In-Law Rule

In India, "television is a bigger industry now than Bollywood, and Bollywood actors are beginning to do television; the field is destined to keep growing," writes the New York Times' Alessandra Stanley. "The Internet is not yet siphoning away the nation’s television-viewing youth." Stanley's long analysis of the TV biz here includes insights into the plots of soap operas -- a staple of Indian TV -- where "mothers-in-law are not a joke... They are the law."
