WPP Taps Kellogg's Lazar As Chief Media Officer, Team Detroit

WPP Group has raided a client-side media chief to serve as the media chief for a client-specific advertising unit, naming former Kellogg's Co. Vice President-Global Media Betzy Lazar Chief Media Officer of Ford Motor Co. ad unit Team Detroit.

"This is a real coup for the global Ford account team and we're thrilled to have her," stated Mark LaNeve, COO of Team Detroit, citing Lazar's "diverse" marketing experience, and specifically her automotive marketing chops.

Prior to joining Kellogg's, Lazar was executive director-advertising and media operations at General Motors, where she played a key role in driving digital strategy. She also led their CRM practice, implementing a leading global digital search capability, while managing all other aspects of the organization's U.S. media operations.

Lazar replaces Andy Prakken, who had served as executive vice president-Chief Media Officer at Team Detroit.

She began her career on the agency side, serving in various media roles including WPP's  J. Walter Thompson, where she worked as a media planner. She then served in various supervisory positions on Ford Car and Truck – helping to launch the all new Taurus and Aerostar.
