Potentially giving ESPN more exposure to Hispanic audiences, the company has reached a deal with Univision to air home Mexican national team games in English, including World Cup qualifying matches.

The schedule begins Wednesday with a friendly game against Denmark.
 
ESPN gets English-language rights across all platforms, while Univision maintains the rights in Spanish. Both will carry the 2014 World Cup in the respective languages. Games could air on various networks run by ESPN and Univision.
 
ESPN has rights to home World Cup qualifying games for the U.S., while the emerging beIN Sport has rights to away games.
 
ESPN and Univision plan to work together on some coverage of the Mexican team known as El Tri. Both will carry 20 games, notably the March 26 U.S.-Mexico match in Mexico City.
 
The 2014 World Cup will mark the last broadcast for at least some time on ESPN and Univision, as competitors Fox Sports and Telemundo take over. ESPN also recently lost rights to the English Premier League to the NBC Sports Network. Telemundo and mun2 will have access to the games under a larger Comcast acquisition of the rights.

The Mexican team has “attracted a passionate, loyal fan base not only in Mexico but throughout the U.S.,” stated Scott Guglielmino, an ESPN senior vice president.
