AOL Europe, the European arm of Time Warner's Global Web portal America Online, replaced Yahoo! Overture with search giant Google, Inc. Tuesday. The agreement will provide some 6.3 million users of
AOL in the U.K., France, and Germany with targeted advertising from Google's AdWords advertisers. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. In response to the deal, Yahoo! Overture
released the statement: "Overture engages in distribution partnerships that make strategic and financial sense for our business. In the case of AOL Europe, these criteria could not be met. And while
Overture aggressively pursues distribution agreements we are absolutely willing to forego those that do not meet these performance thresholds...."
