NASCAR Hires GM Executive For Development Role

NASCAR has tapped Eugene (Gene) Stefanyshyn as VP, innovation and racing development. He will be based at NASCAR’s Research and Development Center in Concord, N.C. Stefanyshyn will lead and shape NASCAR’s future approach to Competition by developing new racing product and fan experiences. 

Stefanyshyn joins NASCAR next month follows a four-month search that was led by Courland International. He will report directly to NASCAR President Mike Helton and will work closely with SVP of racing operations Steve O’Donnell and VP of competition Robin Pemberton. A 30-year veteran of General Motors, Stefanyshyn was most recently the company’s executive director, global product development quality covering four global regions.
