Google Building Network In Parts Of Africa, Asia

Google plans to finance and build a wireless network throughout parts of Africa and southeast Asia to provide Internet access through white spaces -- unused TV broadcast spectrum channels. The service will broadcast from three base stations at Stellenbosch University's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in Tygerberg, Cape Town. Trials will begin at 10 schools in Cape Town to test the technology.
