After Andy Pemberton was ousted last week as part of a series of cutbacks at Dennis Publishing, Craig Marks has been named the new editor-in-chief at
Blender magazine. Marks, who was previously
the editor of the magazine and has been with the publication since its launch in May 2001, has over 20 years of music industry experience, including stints at
Spin and
Rolling Stone.
Though sales have declined at the newsstand, Blenderhas performed better than most Dennis titles of late, having increased its frequency from 10 times a year to monthly back in March. The
company is also planning a 20 percent rate base increase for January 2005 (to 630,000). Ad pages are up 7 percent through August.
