Jupiter Report: Online Travel Market To Hit $91 Billion

A new JupiterResearch report finds that the U.S. online travel market has grown at a rapid pace over the last year--totaling $54 billion in 2004, or 23 percent of travel purchased. The report, "Market Forecast Report, Travel 2004," projects the online travel market to grow to $91 billion in 2009--or 33 percent of travel purchased. It says that airline tickets drive the online leisure travel revenue category, representing $23.3 billion in revenue; an added $11.6 billion in hotel revenue booked by consumers in 2004. Supplier Web sites will continue to increase their market share from 56 to 60 percent between 2004 and 2009, according to the Jupiter report.
