Brazilian Government to Launch Email Platform to Prevent NSA Snooping
The Brazilian government is developing a national email system that will prevent the U.S.'s NSA from spying on the emails of Brazilian citizens. The new commercial email system will provide Brazilians an alternative to Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail. The government is working with the national postal agency Correios on the initiative which will offer encryption tools and servers based in Brazil. The platform will also offer delivery certification, which will tell senders when an email has been read by the recipient.
