Flurry Hires Ex-Facebook Exec As COO

Mobile advertising and analytics firm Flurry on Monday announced hiring digital advertising veteran Grady Burnett as chief operating officer. Burnett was most recently VP, global marketing solutions, at Facebook, where he helped devise the company’s ad strategy and oversee expansion of its ad sales operation worldwide.

Before joining Facebook, Burnett served as director of online sales and operations at Google, running a significant part of the North American AdWords business. Prior to Google, he spent five years at DoubleClick in sales, business development and agency relations roles.

According to an AllThingsD report, Burnett will focus on managing Flurry’s real-time bidding (RTB) platform. Launched earlier this year, the Flurry Marketplace spans 2,500 mobile apps and 1,000 publishers, with daily volume reaching 250 million bids.

"Grady is one of the very few executives that has built and scaled teams in all forms of online advertising from web display and ad serving at DoubleClick, to search at Google and most recently social at Facebook,” stated Flurry CEO and President Simon Khalaf.

Burnett’s hiring as COO comes only a couple of weeks after Flurry named Bob Komin as chief financial officer, and appears to be another step toward the company eventually filing for an initial public offering. Flurry to date has raised more than $50 million in venture funding from investors including Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Union Square Ventures.
