NAA Announces Two New Technology Committees

  • by January 10, 2001
The Newspaper Association of America has announced the formation of two new committees to study newspaper operations technology issues in greater depth. The current Newspaper Processes & Technology Committee is being divided in two to form the Pre-Publishing & New Media Technology and the Systems Integration & Business Systems Committees.

The announcement came during NAA's Newspaper Operations SuperConference 2001, taking place Jan. 7-12, at the Hilton Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla.

The Newspaper Processes & Technology Committee is currently one of eight subcommittees of the NAA's Technology & Telecommunications Committee. The two new committees will begin their work at a meeting set for Feb. 26 and 27.

"Technology in the newspaper industry is progressing rapidly, and it is imperative for NAA to keep current on all new developments," said Tom Croteau, senior vice president of NAA's Technology Group. "Splitting the current committee into two more highly focused committees will help us devote the proper attention to these specialized areas."

The mission of the new Pre-Publishing & New Media Technology Committee will be to search out and advise the newspaper industry about processes and technologies to create and prepare content for print and electronic delivery.

The mission of the new Systems Integration & Business Systems Committee is to update the industry about how to best implement and enhance the electronic communications and information infrastructure underlying the modern newspaper.
