"I am excited to be joining FOX News Channel, and am eager to contribute to the continuing success of the network," Miller said in a statement. He had previously announced plans to leave the Senate when his term expires, when a new Congress is sworn in next month.
Prior to serving as Senator of Georgia beginning in 2000, he held numerous positions in government, including the governorship of Georgia for two terms (1991-1999).
In addition to his new role as a pundit, earlier this month, Miller said he would join the Washington, D.C. lobbying firm McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP. Miller will work on the firm's national Government Affairs practice. The national Government Affairs practice focuses on matters involving the intersection of government and private enterprise in such areas as tax, international trade, homeland security and defense, health policy, agriculture, higher education, energy, and environmental regulation.
No word on whether the offer to duel Matthews still stands.
