The QSR Year In Review

The quick service restaurant business had moderate growth this year 2013, no thanks to the shutdown, sequestration and tax increase on payrolls. It was creative new ideas and products, plus another good gain from fast-casual units that drove the business. “The good news is that there’s still growth,” says Hudson Riehle, SVP of the National Restaurant Association’s Research and Knowledge Group. But it’s also “the most modest growth in the past four years.” A review of the year at the jump.
