Clear Channel Unveils 3 NYC Digital Billboards

Midtown in New York City is getting a little brighter thanks to Clear Channel Outdoor, which unveiled three new digital billboards in the heavily trafficked public space adjacent to Penn Station and Madison Square Garden.

The billboards will enable advertisers to reach some of the 430,000 commuters and tourists who pass through Penn Station on any given weekday, as well as sports fans and concertgoers on their way to events in MSG, visited by over 5 million people every year.

CCO is promoting the new billboards with a ticket giveaway from Clear Channel Entertainment and Media’s Z100, giving listeners the chance to attend a New Year’s Eve VIP party hosted by Z100 by M&M’s.

To enter the contest, fans just have to take a “selfie” of themselves standing in front of the new billboards, located at 425 and 427 7th Ave between 34th and 35th Streets -- then tweet the picture with the hashtag #LuckyEnough.

This is just the latest in a series of new, high-profile digital out-of-home signage installations around New York. They include new digital billboards installed by JCDecaux at JFK International Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport, and a variety of digital signage incorporated into the New York City Transit network, such as interactive digital touchscreen displays in public phone kiosks and double-sided digital displays at the entrances to subway stations.

NYC taxis are also getting DOOH makeovers, courtesy of Blue Bite and Creative Mobile Technologies, which have partnered to bring Blue Bite’s mTAG technology to CMT’s digital screens in the back seats of cabs. The new system uses near-field communication and QR technology to enable viewers to connect with mobile content -- including music, videos, mobile apps, promotional information, coupons, maps and tips
