JWT Snatches Creative Pair From Anomaly

JWT New York has poached the well-regarded creative team of Andy Carrigan and John Zast from MDC Partners’ Anomaly.

Carrigan and Zast have been Executive Creative Directors and will lead JWT’s creative efforts on the agency’s Macy’s account. The WPP shop said the pair would also contribute to the creative efforts of other unnamed brands on the agency’s client roster.

At Anomaly, Carrigan and Zast served as a Global Group Creative Director team, managing all creative duties worldwide for Diageo’s Captain Morgan rum brand, as well as Budweiser and the NBC Sports Network.

The duo first teamed up at Wieden + Kennedy New York in 2004, working on ESPN, Nike and Sharp Electronics. They have received numerous industry accolades and will report to Jeff Benjamin, Chief Creative Officer of JWT North America.

“Andy and Jon represent a dying breed of creative that has the ability to listen to the needs of a brand, find its soul, and then share it with the world in ways that genuinely matter to consumers,” said Benjamin.

Previously Carrigan also worked at Crispin Porter + Bogusky. Zast left Wieden for Anomaly in 2007 and was joined by Carrigan there in 2009 when they teamed to lead the Captain Morgan brand re-launch. MDC Partners purchased a majority stake in Anomaly in 2011.
