ESPN's 'Monday Night Football' Scores 6% More Viewers

Among the overall rise of NFL TV’s ratings this season, ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” has seen a 6% uptick in overall viewership.

“MNF” has averaged a Nielsen 13.7 million total average viewers versus 12.8 million 2012. In the 2012 season ESPN’s big NFL series was down 4% from its 2011 levels in total average viewership.

ESPN’s “MNF” games regularly top all U.S. cable network programs. In 2013, it had six of the 10 biggest U.S. cable networks' single episode TV shows among total viewers. It also ranked the highest among all U.S. network when it came to 18-49 viewers.

ESPN’s highest-rated single game of 2013 was the Dallas Cowboys-Chicago Bears on Dec. 9, getting 16,192,000 viewers. Through eight seasons, “MNF” best results came in 2010 when it averaged 14.7 million viewers.

Other NFL TV networks are also posting gains: CBS is up 6% to 18.8 million through 13 weeks of the season. Fox also has improved mid-single digit percentages to around 20 million average viewers, season to date.

NBC leads all NFL networks -- as well as being the top-rated TV show overall -- up 3% for its “Sunday Night Football” to 21.5 million average viewers through Dec. 22
