Patrick Bonomo is out as COO of WPP’s Spafax Networks unit, and is now head of operations at sister WPP search shop Catalyst.
Bonomo, who stepped down as Spafax’s COO in December, will be responsible for developing the infrastructure that supports Catalyst’s paid and organic search and social media practices, with an emphasis on supporting the “paid, owned and earned” media services of GroupM buying shops Mindshare, Maxus, MEC and Mediacom.
Bonomo, who has been a long-time WPP digital media exec, spent the past two years developing the infrastructure for Spafax Networks to plan, buy and trade digital out-of-home media the way biddable online, search, social and mobile media are. Among other things, he created the SN: Xchange in collaboration with Vistar, and developed a digital out-of-home audience index with Nielsen and GfK MRI.
It was not clear at press time who, if anyone, succeeded Bonomo in his Spafax role.
