Russell Tapped To Lead Sales For Meredith Video Studios

Meredith Corporation on Tuesday named Tim Russell as senior managing director of sales at Meredith Video Studios.

In this new role, Russell will be responsible for spearheading ad sales initiatives for Meredith’s full-service, multiplatform video production and distribution unit. MVS produces video for TV, Web, social and mobile applications, as well as branded entertainment content for “The Better Show,” Meredith’s syndicated daily lifestyle program.

“Among our top priorities is the goal to partner with a growing number of strong brands for "The Better Show," as we clear more markets and upgrade time periods heading into the fall season," says Russell.

He adds that the company is "looking to partner with clients for the launch of our All Recipes program, as we extend the brand from the digital and print platforms over to television.”

Russell most recently served as vice president, east at Comcast Media 360, where he led joint sales efforts between Comcast and Telemundo.

Meredith currently offers thousands of digital videos across its portfolio of women’s sites on a variety of topics, including lifestyle, entertaining, cooking, home décor and healthy living.

Andy Wilson, chief digital officer at Meredith, recently told Media Daily News that the company expects to average 40 million to 50 million video streams per month in 2014 across its own sites and in syndication.

Russell will report to Kieran Clarke, executive vice president/general manager, Meredith Video Studios.

Prior to Comcast, Russell served as vice president and Eastern sales manager at the Tennis Channel, as well as vice president of sales and marketing at CNN Networks.
