Programmatic Accounted For Nearly Half Of SpotXchange's Revenue In 2013

Digital video ad marketplace SpotXchange on Monday announced its 2013 financial results, which revealed significant growth in the programmatic space.

The company reported that revenue generated from programmatic transactions accounted for 46% of its total revenue.  Programmatic accounted for 30% of the company's revenue in 2012 and just 5% in 2011.

Early indications are that programmatic will account for even more in 2014; it made up 57% of SpotXchange's revenue in December 2013 alone, four times more than it did in December 2012.

The figures also reveal large increases in both supply and demand when it comes to digital video being made available for programmatic buying. The number of bids per ad slot (demand) increased substantially. In December 2012 SpotXchange saw 1 million bid requests per minute. By December 2013 the demand has increased to 3.5 million bid requests per minute.

Similarly, the number of auctions per day (supply) reached 500 million in December 2013, compared to 150 million in December 2012. At one point last month the supply maxed out at 1 billion auctions per day.
