MDC Partners has added two ad-marketing veterans to its corporate business development team -- Claudia Caplan, who has been named svp, business development and Zihla Salinas, who has been appointed svp, business strategy and development. Both executives will report to Bob Kantor, chief marketing and business development officer at the holding company.

The corporate business development team helps MDC agencies form new business pitch and organic growth strategies.

Previously Caplan served as CMO of the RP3 Agency, and prior to that she held CMO roles at David & Goliath, and Mendelsohn Zien Advertising. A 20-plus-year industry veteran, Caplan has also served as a consultant to Fox Digital Entertainment, and earlier in her career, as VP, brand marketing for EarthLink.

Salinas joins MDC Partners after four years at RAPP, where she most recently served as chief marketing officer, leading business development, corporate branding and client strategy on multi-channel CRM and digital initiatives. She has also held senior strategy and business development roles at companies including Meredith Xcelerated Marketing, Genex and O’Grady Meyers.

According to MDC Partners CEO Miles Nadal, the new hires reflect the company’s “deepened commitment” to the company’s marketplace approach which includes “custom integrated solutions” and advanced analytics resources. “With complementary marketer-side, creative, digital, analytics, and data strategy experience, Claudia and Zihla will be tremendous assets” at the company, Nadal stated.

Nadal said MDC agencies had “unprecedented growth” in 2013. Full-year numbers aren’t out yet, but through the first nine months of last year, the company posted a 9.1% revenue gain to $842.5 million, with organic growth (which excludes the impact of acquisitions and currency fluctuations) of 9.4%.
