DMA Releases CAN SPAM Guide

  • January 20, 2004
The Direct Marketing Association has released "The CAN SPAM Act of 2003: What to Look For, What to Look OUT For," a quick reference guide to the new federal anti-spam law. The guide gives examples of commercial emails that comply with the law and provides contact information for the government authorities in charge of enforcement.

"The CAN SPAM Act is an important victory for American email users," said DMA president and chief executive officer H. Robert Wientzen in a press release. "But having a law in and of itself is not a cure-all. We need to build awareness about the new law among marketers and consumers, and help the authorities build cases against the spam kingpins who are ruining email for the rest of us."
