Embattled radio group Entercom Boston is ramping its digital efforts.
Entercom Boston, which operates WEEI, WAAF and WRKO, said that it has promoted its director of digital operations,
Carlson Mozdiez, to the newly created position of director, integrated media strategies.
In his new position, Mozdiez will be responsible for all external brand messaging, including
events, promotions, ads, web sites, social media, and video.
Entercom Boston -- whose parent company, Entercom Communications, operates around 100 stations in 23 markets nationwide --
has been rocked in recent months by personnel changes, ratings slumps, and the loss of a lucrative ad contract with regional powerhouse Dunkin' Donuts. The group's sports station, WEEI, has been
crushed in the ratings by rival The Sports Hub 98.5, while rock station WAAF has trailed behind competitors WZLX and KISS 108.
Entercom noted in a statement that under Mozdiez, WEEI,
once Boston's premier sports station, has received national industry awards for best streaming broadcast station and best radio station website.
“Streamlining our ever-expanding
array of digital and marketing channels, which connect the most valuable radio consumers in New England to our brands and our advertisers, makes logistical sense. Carlson is the ideal leader to
spearhead these innovative efforts, ” said Entercom Boston Market Manager Phil Zachary in a statement.
