Omnicom Media Group Expands In Latin America

Omnicom Media Group has expanded its footprint in the Latin America region with the acquisition of Media Interactive SA, the big digital shop with offices in Chile, Columbia and Peru.

Terms weren’t disclosed.

Media Interactive is credited with being the first agency in Chile to develop social networks management and a comprehensive suite of social media tools to support that effort.

Other services in the agency’s portfolio include online media planning and buying, Web site design and development, content creation, SEO and SEM, mobile marketing and app development and design.

Based in Santiago, Chile, the agency was founded in 2001 by Alan Gringas. It has worked with Omnicom Media Group on numerous projects over a period of years.

The agency will retain the Media Interactive brand. Gringas will continue in his role as CEO, while also joining the Omnicom Media Group digital leadership team in Latin America.

“As the fastest-growing marketing segment — and with a rapidly increasing share of total spend — digital is an increasingly critical component of our go-to-market strategy in the region,” said Julian Porras, CEO, Omnicom Media Group LATAM.  “Combining Omnicom Media Group’s planning, buying and analytics prowess with Media Interactive’s proven expertise and established client roster enables quantum expansion of the OMG digital footprint across three core markets, as well as immediate and invaluable enhancement to our broader LATAM growth agenda.”

Media Interactive has approximately 100 full time staffers across its offices in Chile, Peru and Columbia. According to its site, clients include car brands Infinity and Citroen, skincare company Beiersdorf and food company Agrosuper, among others.

We’re looking forward to partnering with OMG as first movers in digital marketing across the entire LATAM region,” Gringas said.

The acquisition is the second for OMG in as many months. In March, the firm bought Mobile5, the London-based mobile marketing shop.
