The Trade Desk Expands In Asia, Opens Shops In Japan & Korea

The Trade Desk, a demand-side platform (DSP), on Monday announced a major expansion in Asia with the opening of two new offices -- one in Tokyo, Japan and one in Seoul, Korea. The company says it has opened the offices to support six regional trading desk clients in the area.

Jae Woo Chung has been named The Trade Desk’s president, Asia. Chung was formerly president, Asia for 24/7 Media, a WPP company.

"There is incredible sophistication among buyers in Asia, and I am pleased to be growing the business on the demand-side at such an important time," Chung said in a statement.

Tetsuya Shintani has been appointed country manager, Japan, and will lead The Trade Desk’s Tokyo office. He previously worked at Dentsu.

Several large ad tech companies -- on both the buy- and sell-side -- have opened offices in Japan in the past 12 months. Japan is also routinely one of the five leading countries in terms of global RTB marketshare.

"We are honored that we were able to attract two digital marketing leaders to join and help us expand into the region,” stated Jeff Green, CEO of The Trade Desk.
