New Tues. Comedy Shows Register Lackluster Ratings

After the better part of a week or so of decent openings for new broadcast network shows, the second Tuesday of the new season produced ho-hum results in its live-plus-same-day viewing results.

New comedies from ABC landed some uninspired results from viewers: Its 8 p.m. “Selfie” scored a 1.4 rating/5 share, and “Manhattan Love Story" earned a 1.3/4 among 18-49 in preliminary Nielsen results.

ABC's results were also lower for other programming on the night: “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” at 9 p.m. dipped four-tenths of a rating point to a 1.7/5, and new 10 p.m. drama “Forever” lost a half a rating point to a 1.3/4. Compared to a week before, ABC was down 23% to an average 1.5/5 -- in fourth place.

Other networks performed better, but for the most part did not have much to cheer about. Leader NBC averaged a 3.5 rating/11 share for the night, down 4% from the week before. CBS was off 6% to a 2.2/7 and Fox earned a 1.0/3, even with its results of a week ago.

CW’s “iHeartRadio Music Festival” -- the second part following Monday’s first part -- gained 33% from last week’s Tuesday reruns to a 0.4/1.

NBC’s “The Voice” was the TV program leader of the night with a 4.0/13, down a bit from a year ago. CBS’s “NCIS” was next with a 2.6/9, down three-tenths; NBC’s Chicago Fire” was down two-tenths to a 2.4/7; “NCIS: New Orleans,” dropped two-tenths to a 2.3/7, and CBS’ “Person of Interest” gained one-tenth to a 1.8/6.
