Qwant Rides Anti-Google Sentiment Abroad

With consumer sentiment seemingly on its side, French start-up Qwant is trying to take search market share away from Google. “The French start-up … is tapping into growing anger [in Europe] that Google has too much control over how Europeans surf the Web,” The New York Times reports. “Some of the region’s lawmakers have already called for the breakup of the American search giant.” Mirroring efforts by Google, Qwant is also developing a child-friendly search engine, Qwant Junior.
