The network’s 9 p.m. now blockbuster drama about the music industry grew four-tenths of a rating point from a week ago to a Nielsen 4.4 rating/ 13 share among 18-49 viewers in the live plus same-day time-shifted measure.
In addition, Fox’s “American Idol” — “Empire” lead-in at 8 p.m. — also picked up four-tenths from the week before, to a 3.4 rating/11 share.
Overall for the night, Fox rose 9% to an Nielsen preliminary average 3.8 rating , nearly totaling the next three other networks combined 18-49 ratings on the night: CBS, a 1.7; NBC, a 1.2; and ABC, a 1.0.
Other network shows on the night were well behind: CBS’ “Criminal Minds” was the best of the bunch, a 2.0/6; CBS’ “Stalker” (at 10 p.m.); CBS’ “The Mentalist” (at 8 p.m.); NBC’s “Chicago PD” (at 10 p.m.); and a repeat of “Modern Family” were each at a 1.5/5.

While “Empire” also did well in overall viewers — 11.07 million — “Idol” was a bit better, 11.76 million. “Criminal Minds” was at 10.29 million; and “The Mentalist”, 9.6 million.
