Rocket Fuel Opens Office In Brazil

Rocket Fuel on Wednesday announced it has opened an office in Sao Paulo, Brazil, marking the company’s expansion to Latin America. Rocket Fuel has appointed Edvaldo Acir as managing director; he will lead the company’s new office and Latin America expansion.

"With 120 million online consumers, a large and growing middle class, and strong support for advertising technology innovation, Brazil is primed to be a Latin American bellwether for programmatic media,” stated Mark Prior, Rocket Fuel’s VP, international and mobile. “Brazil currently represents half of the ad spend in Latin America, and with rapid advertising technology adoption, it was a natural starting place for Rocket Fuel to centralize our regional operations.”

Per eMarketer estimates, Brazil is expected to spend $3.33 billion in digital advertising in 2015, up from $2.88 in 2014, and a recent report from AppFlood noted that Latin America is adopting programmatic technologies. Additionally, an Accordant Media report from last year noted that Brazil is already one of the largest RTB markets in the world.

Acir was formerly managing director at Vizury, an India-based retargeting firm. While at Vizury, he led office openings in Brazil and Mexico, per a release. He has previously held positions at Fox International Channels, Terra Networks from Telefonica Group, Movile from Naspers Group and Abril Group, per a release.

Acir said in a statement that Rocket Fuel currently sees 1.1 billion daily bid requests in Brazil in display, mobile, social and video.
