Battered And Broken, A Restored 1957 Land Rover Wins Four Mens' Hearts

The way to a man’s heart? For four New Zealanders, more or less neutered by midlife, the answer came in the form of a mint-green Land Rover Defender. And not just any Defender, but the very same 1957 model they had spent their student loan money on back in the day.

After 15 years of boyish hijinks, shenanigans and generally driving it into the ground, they sold it on Craigslist, where it was secretly purchased by Land Rover New Zealand. Turns out the company was in cahoots with one of the wives, scheming to give “The Landy” a top-to-bottom rebuild. The  restoration team even replaced the original bumper stickers and added back a few dings and dents. See the spot here. Y&R NZ is the agency.

Gold. Pure Gold. What could be better than a refurbished 1957 Land Rover Defender (apart from the Long Wheel base version)?
