US Guardian Editor In Chief Wins Staff Vote To Replace Alan Rusbridger

Katherine Viner, the current editor in chief of the Guardian US, has won the staff vote to replace current Guardian editor-in-chief, Alan Rusbridger. Viner's win ensures that she will be on the list of three candidates. Winning the approval of 53 per cent Viner beat Janine Williams, editor in chief of theguardian.com, Emily Bell, director of the Tow Center for Digital Journalism, and an unnamed, non-executive director of the Scott Trust. The Scott Trust, which ultimately owns The Guardian, will make the final decision later this month.
