Tinder Integrates With Instagram

Among other new changes, Tinder has officially integrated with Instagram.

Now, users of the popular dating app can connect to their Instagram accounts with a single tap. From there, “Your Tinder profile will automatically start displaying your recent Instagram photos,” the company explains in a new blog post.

To allay privacy concerns, Tinder is promising not to post anything to Instagram on users’ behalf, or alter their existing Instagram privacy settings.

Tinder will also show users the full set of a person’s Facebook interests and highlight the interests that people have in common. In addition, Tinder will show users the mutual friends andfriends of friends they have in common with their potential matches.

“You won’t have common connections with every person on Tinder (that would be super boring, wouldn’t it?), but when you do, we’ve got you covered,” the company explains.

The changes are the first under the direction of Christopher Payne, who took over Tinder as CEO last month.

Tinder recently revealed plans to turn its popularity into profits, which, to the chagrin of many on Madison Avenue, has little to do with advertising. Rather, the company launched a premium dating service, dubbed Plus, which charges different monthly rates to users based on their regional location and age.

The 2-year-old Tinder quickly emerged as a popular online dating app, particularly among millennials. Its free app now boasts about 1.2 billion profile swipes, per day, along with about 15 millions “matches” -- which occur when two users enter into a text conversation after approving each others’ profiles.
