Minneapolis-based Mithun, part of Interpublic, has hired Melissa Schoenke as managing director to run the agency’s in-house media operation, known as Compass Point Media. She will report to Mithun CEO Rob Buchner.
As head of the media unit, Schoenke is tasked with leading client media strategy, partnerships, investments and content integration.
Schoenke effectively replaces Christopher Wexler, who stepped down as Compass Point Media director of media strategy and interactive late last year for a post at Cramer-Krasselt. COO/CFO, Steve Arndt held interim management duties of Compass Point until he left the agency in February for a CFO position at The Nerdery.
Prior to joining Mithun, Schoenke was director of media strategy for retail giant Target Corp, where she is credited with overseeing the brand’s omnichannel marketing organization and shifting the business to a data-driven, digital media approach. Earlier, she held posts at Carmichael Lynch, Nike and OMD Worldwide.
“Our future is in the creative sciences — the co-mingling of brand ideas, data analytics and modern media think,” said Buchner. “Melissa will help choreograph content across technology platforms and media channels.”
