Commonwealth/McCann Celebrates New Detroit Digs With Party

In the works for a couple of years, Commonwealth McCann, the Detroit-based GM agency that grew out of a joint venture between Goodby, Silverstein & Partners and McCann-Erickson, has made the move to its new offices at One Detroit Center.

The move puts the agency within walking distance of its client, GM. Previously, the agency was across town on six floors in the Plams Building -- which, according to the agency, was a less than productive work environment.

Agency employees and execs from GM celebrated the move with a party last Thursday. Of the move, GM CMO Tim Mahoney said: "I will be here a lot more often not only because it is close, but because it’s really cool. We can just walk over, so it's going to be really, really nice."

After all, every agency peep wants their client to just drop in whenever they like, right?

At least the client loves the move. GM North American President Alan Batey said: "We've got a lot of great things going on and it think that we are starting to really bring 'Find New Roads to life.' I think with this set-up you are going to be able to create that teamwork and energy that is so critical."
