Motorsport.com has purchased the entire archives of Grand Prix journalist Giorgio Piola, who has covered Formula 1 racing for 45 years, the automotive racing publisher announced this week. The
acquisition includes the domains
Giorgiopiola.it and
Giorgiopiola.com and the rights to over 8,000 drawings and
hundreds of animations from Piola over the decades. Piola, 66, has contributed to venerable Italian automotive titles including
Autosprint and
Gazzetta dello Sport. Since 1994,
Piola has also been the author of the book "Formula One Technical Analysis," in which he analyzes the evolution of the F1 cars year-by-year. As part of the agreement, Piola will also exclusively join
Motorsport.com's editorial team as F1 Technical Expert in 2016.
