Winemaker Preps For PGA Events

E&J Gallo's William Hill Estate Winery is planning several promotions in connection with this week’s PGA Tour season-opening Frys.com Open.

The event is taking place Oct. 15-18 across the street from the winery — which was chosen for the Official Wine of the PGA Tour in North America — at Silverado Resort in the Napa Valley. For the only time in 2015 the winery will simultaneously host activities at a sponsored tournament and on its own grounds.

Founded on Napa’s Silverado Bench over 30 years ago, William Hill became the Official Wine of the PGA Tour, Champions Tour and Web.com Tour in North America earlier this year in a sponsorship that will run through 2018.

The winery is planning localized tournament support, including on-site wine bars with interactive displays and sampling opportunities, at approximately a dozen tournaments each season.

“For the first time, PGA Tour visitors will be able to have an authentic Napa Valley William Hill Estate experience in their home states, all while sitting alongside some of the best golf courses in the United States and watching the best golfers in the world,” said Rich Kranzmann, vice president and general manager of Gallo’s premium wine division, in a release.

This week’s marketing events include The William Hill Estate Wine Lounge, a 30-foot–by-30-foot recreation of the Napa tasting room located on the 11th green, which will welcome guests throughout Frys.com Open play.

William Hill wines will be available at all general concessions and the Silverado Club House during Frys.com Open tournament play. The William Hill Estate Winery’s Napa, Calif. tasting room will be open to guests, including those attending the tournament.

The winery will host a player and family dinner on Oct. 15. A national point-of-sale sweepstakes awarded the winner with a VIP visit to the winery along with tickets to the Frys.com Open.
