Meredith To Launch 'Fit Pregnancy And Baby'

Women’s interest publisher Meredith Corp. is preparing to launch a new print magazine, Fit PregnancyandBaby, set to debut early next year with its February 2016 issue. The new magazine will combine Fit Pregnancy and American Baby, and replace the print edition of the latter publication, with all American Baby subscribers receiving Fit Pregnancy and Baby instead.

Fit Pregnancy and Baby will launch with a continued rate base of 2 million, carried over from American Baby, and will also continue the magazine’s publication schedule of eleven issues per year. Meredith plans to publish special American Baby products on occasion, and the brand will also continue to exist online.

The magazine seeks to capitalize on growing interest in active lifestyles and fitness among expectant mothers, as reflected in trends like pregnant yoga classes and pregnant women running marathons. Coverage will include beauty, nutrition, maternal and baby health, fashion, wellness and lifestyle topics, like celebrity pregnancy and style.

Meredith Parents Network president Carey Witmer stated: “We believe the brand has a strong resonance in particular with today’s audience of multicultural millennial moms who understand the importance of wellness but also want to look great and have fabulous style throughout the journey of pregnancy and new motherhood.”

Meredith has bucked the overall decline of print media with a number of new magazine launches over the last year.

Last month, it unveiled a new print title called Beekman 1802 Almanac, focused around “Beekman 1802,” a goat farm, store and e-commerce company made famous by “The Fabulous Beekman Boys” television series on The Cooking Channel.
The magazine has a cover price of $9.99 and a launch circulation of 200,000.

Earlier this year, Meredith Corp. launched a new English-language magazine targeting Hispanic mothers in the millennial generation, called Parents Latina, a spinoff of the company’s Parents and Ser Padres.
