Stella Artois, John Legend Join For Holiday Effort

Stella Artois and singer John Legend have come together for a holiday-themed single that is being incorporated into the brand’s holiday campaign.

The song, “Under the Stars,” was written and performed by Legend and incorporates the “sound” of actual celestial stars. It pays homage to the brand's name, "Stella," which translates to "star" in Latin.

The song can be streamed for free on the brand’s Web site. The behind-the-scenes making of "Under the Stars” is featured on the brand’s YouTube page.

This is not the first time the Belgium beer maker has enlisted Legend’s support in its marketing efforts. The singer also was featured in #HostBeautifully themed print and social media in May.

"Stella Artois was originally crafted as a holiday gift to the city of Leuven, Belgium and we want to pay tribute to our origin story and inspire the entire country to give beautifully this holiday season," says Ricardo Marques, vice president, Stella Artois, in a release.

Stars are known for illuminating the night sky, but a little-known fact is that stars also make sounds. The frequencies by which a star's brightness changes can be translated into unique audible tones; from pulsing beats to ethereal vibes to atonal reverberations, each star has a unique sound.  The song features the distinct sounds of four different stars in the Universe in the song's intro, outro and chorus.

Stella Artois will also give the gift of stars to New York via a first-of-its-kind immersive and interactive light installation. To commemorate the launch of the exhibit on Dec. 9, Legend will perform the song during a concert under the lights of the art installation.

Two consumers will have the chance to attend the star-filled launch night by retweeting the brand's "Under the Stars" Twitter post at www.Twitter.com/StellaArtois now through Dec. 2. The exhibitwill be open to the public Dec. 10-11 between 6 and 10 p.m. and Dec. 12 between 2 and 9 p.m. at the Skylight at Moynihan Station.

The Stella Artois "Give Beautifully" campaign also will include curated giving via Gilt.com/StellaArtois. Through a curated Stella Artois gift guide, consumers can choose from an assortment of designer items to give to their loved ones, including the brand's limited-edition Holiday Chalice.

Stella Artois will mark its debut at the country's premier art show in Miami by giving fans the beautiful gift of art in partnership with “Visionaire.” Miami show-goers will have access to free artwork from 12 artists as part of the publication's public installation from Dec. 3-6.
