DIC Entertainment Tuesday announced the launch of DIC Kid's Network, which will send episodes of DIC's 100-program library to cell phones around the world. DIC has acquired a 3,200-episode library of cartoons including series like "Madeline," "Strawberry Shortcake," and their own "Inspector Gadget." DIC partnered with SmartVideo Technologies to launch the Kid's Network. It is a subscription-based service, and streams the episodes from DIC's library to cell phones and mobile devices while still maintaining TV-quality broadcast, DIC said.

SmartVideo has signed similar deals with several major news outlets, such as ABC News, CNBC, MSNBC, NBC Mobile, and the Weather Channel to stream their content to phones and mobile devices. --Shankar Gupta
