P&G/Gillette Deal May Be A Boon For Publicis, Starcom MediaVest

Procter & Gamble's acquisition of Gillette may prove a boon for Publicis, according to reports circulating around the deal. Publicis' Starcom MediaVest Group is the lead media agency on P&G's business, splitting P&G's communications planning account with Aegis Group's Carat unit. P&G's brand assignments are split among Publicis', WPP Group's and Grey Global's agency units. P&G today is expected to announce a deal to acquire Gillette for $57 billion. Gillette, which spends about a $1 billion on advertising, is handled by Omnicom's agencies.
