ABC Family, New Line Team For Comedy Promos

  • February 1, 2005
ABC Family is partnering with New Line Cinema to promote the studio's theatrical release "Son of the Mask"--the sequel to the Jim Carrey film--by having the film's star, comic actor Jamie Kennedy, host the network's airing of another comedy hit: "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery."

During the airing of "Austin Powers," Kennedy, who has previously starred in such cinematic fare as "Malibu's Most Wanted," will discuss the new movie. The show airs February 5th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. EST/PST. As part of the promotion, Kennedy will host over four minutes of wraps, giving viewers a sneak peek of "Son Of The Mask," which hits theaters February 18.

The promotion marks the first time ABC Family has partnered with a film studio, said Karen Williams, vice president for Integrated Marketing & Promotions, ABC Family. Williams, noting the importance of such connections, said the network hopes to form other partnerships in the coming months.

"This type of sponsorship provides a great opportunity for studios to reach viewers in a unique way while showcasing special features of their film," Williams said. --DK
