Herzog Named President, Comedy Central And Spike TV

  • February 3, 2005
As expected in light of the sudden resignation of Albie Hecht as president of Spike TV, Doug Herzog will take over the position, expanding his current role as president of Viacom sister cable network Comedy Central, the company announced yesterday.

Comedy Central and Spike TV will form a new unit within MTV Networks, under Herzog. Hecht, who has been with Spike TV since January 2003 and developed its current positioning as the "first network for men," weathered poorly rated shows that were trashed by the critics. As the rumor mill has it, Herzog's first order of business could be expanding the network beyond its young male demographic.
