Ikea Launches $400+ Million Media Agency Review

Leiden, Netherlands-headquartered home furnishings giant Ikea is conducting a global media agency review, the company has confirmed.

Currently, media chores worldwide are split among a number of shops across five holding companies -- including GroupM's MEC, which has the U.S. assignment. It’s understood that the incumbents will participate in the review.

The company spends an estimated $435 million on ads worldwide.

Ikea issued this statement: "As part of our commitment to the ongoing improvement of our media and marketing governance, IKEA periodically evaluates all marketing service suppliers to ensure we maintain the best working relationships with the best agency partners. IKEA is currently in the process of reviewing its media agency suppliers globally.”

ID Comms, the media consultant, is helping the company facilitate the review process.

The company also said it would continue to work with its incumbent agencies in each local market during the review process.
